In order to create a solid plan, you need to complete three important steps: WHY, HOW, WHAT. At this time of the IP I'm focusing specifically in how I will be completing the IP, in other words, the plan.
Why?
- I wanted to continue a successful project that I started last semester
- I want people to serve their community such as I did
- Many children suffer because they don't have what to walk with, and there's no better feeling than giving them the opportunity to receive a new pair of shoes that will probably change their life
- I've always wanted to start a service project by my own, something new, and actually be involved throughout the whole process
- I want to MAKE A CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY, with my own hands
How?
1. Research about projects that have been successful and the planning behind them
2. Create a list of the materials needed
3. Contact other schools around Lima
4. Keep on networking with Brasil
5. Establish a clear process of how to set up the project
6. Create a campaigning video (marketing)
7. Do another Shoe Drive
- Determine the type of project I want to establish
- Make sure how initiatives become successful, what's the planning behind them?
- Talk to any NGO's such as Techo, Enseña Peru, Crea +, that started small and became known after time
- How did they teach the steps to imitate the project to other people
2. Create a list of the materials needed
- Go back to the first time I did the project and take note of any materials needed
- Make a table with all the materials, sizes, and specific prices
3. Contact other schools around Lima
- Talk to any coordinators to check if they would be interested in following my steps to do a shoe drive in their schools
- Ask to check if they have any requirements i need to follow
- Talk to them about the project and take note about their opinions
- Schools that I would be interested in = San Silvestre, Markham, Cambridge, VIlla Maria
4. Keep on networking with Brasil
- During the summer I spoke to a student in Sao Pablo that was interested in doing the Share a Pair project in his school
- Keep on talking to him and explain the idea about the project
- Help him with anything if needed, and give him the basic steps to do the drive
- Be sure that he is following the correct process, and take note about how the shoe drive works in Brasil
5. Establish a clear process of how to set up the project
- Contact any entrepreneur that has started his own camping or project and how he let everyone know about it
- create a clear plan of how to do the shoe drive
- include detailed steps, and observations form the first time I didi the shoe drive
- Research about what to include in a manual to start up an existing project
- Create an outline after reflecting on my first experience with the shoe drive
6. Create a campaigning video (marketing)
- Investigate marketing videos that announce any type of service
- Check out promotional videos from any NGO
- Learn how to use final cut pro or premier (learn how to use better)
- Create a plan for the video
- Collect footage
- Market project as "Share a Pair"
7. Do another Shoe Drive
- I will definitely want to do a shoe drive by the end of the year, and make it at the same time as in other schools. It will be two weeks where every school collects as many shoes as they can.
What?
Create a booklet with instructions so that other people can start Share a Pair in other countries or in Peru without my help. I want to make the booklet very detailed and easy to follow. Not only include infromation but make it visual and entertaining. I want this to be successful. The booklet will need to include:
- costs
- steps to do the shoe drive
- materials
- transportation
- where the shoes go
Learning Outcomes
- Rebranding
- Statistics
- How to sell a project
- Creating clear guidelines for a beginner
- Network with other people
- Investigation about successful projects
- Campaigning
