CAN YOU NOW U N D E R S T A N D REALITY? | I just wanted to share a quick image that envelopes reality in the world nowadays. Many times we don't appreciate nor notice how fortunate we are in life, the many things we have, how healthy we wake up every morning, and even, sleeping under a roof and not a piece of paper. We take things for granted, not spending a minute thinking about how lucky we are belonging to this kind of a life. I was certainly shocked by these wise words that I found while scrolling down my Facebook feed. Not often -- in Facebook--do you find powerful information or pictures that actually allow you to reflect on your life, you might find social photo albums, friend to friend posts, adventure videos, sharing chains, or even food pictures, but this shared image, was one that gave me shivers. So now, take a couple of minutes and just think of everything that life offers you, all those priceless opportunities and facilities, which are clearly resumed up on those blue words: it's time to be thankful, it's time to be a change agent and make the world a better place to live, it's time to shut down your computer and go help-out someone who struggles in life, they will thank you a lifetime. |

#LearningAtTheOffice Walking into the office and getting the same feeling as I get at the IA is priceless. Don't get me wrong, the workspace is completely different, the working method is not as alike, and the dynamic at the office has quite a cool style, but not as much swag as in the IA :). Nevertheless, there's one aspect that gave me shivers when I noticed it: as soon as 9:00 am hits the clock, there are very few members that are walking around or having a quick chit-chat, the rest are all stimulating their early brain by applying THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE -- yes, the pomodoro technique--, one that we tend to apply at the IA. Believe it or not, being comfortable with the people that surrounds you shapes up who you are as a person, how you react to certain situations, and the attitude you have towards work, obstacles, and flashing opportunities. Honestly, coming along people that work with a similar mentality as the one I have in school, or even ones who envision work such as I envision education and it's purpose, has allowed me not only to establish relationships with people that tend to think differently yet at the same time similarly, but it has as well empowered me to act confident around certain environments and be definite about the approaches I make. Now that I've been flexible to all kinds of situations, my experience as an intern has grown from a 17-year-old, to an actual worker at a company. I'm living up to the idea that I'm adding value, permitting me to stand for who I am and what I look forward to from this experience. Moreover, being confident with the people around and leaving the feeling of embarrassment behind has improved my work ethic and my ability to interact with others.

Interesting... According to Arellano Marketing (considered one of the best companies in Peru working with market analytics), at least for Peru, divining social classes in 4 stereotypical boundaries, A B C & D is inadequate in relation to the economic and social growth that Lima has undergone in the last couple of years. Rolando Arellano, founder of Arellano Marketing, mentions that the ideal division encapsulates people that have a similar life style (most important), a particular vision of the future, and coinciding beliefs. There are 6 groups that fall into this division, where 2 are quite typical: sophisticated (mostly rich and modern/ both male &female) and resigned (mostly poor and traditional/ both male &female); however, within this boundaries there are progressive (male), modern (female), adapted (male) and conservative (female) lifestyles.
#LearningAtTheOffice That inkless pen that you ONLY wish to throw away at the end of countless exams just to FINALLY take a break... wait a minute: What time is it? Summertime It's our vacation What time is it? Party time That's right, say it loud That was me: yeah, quite a cliche High School Musical song, but one that I anxiously wait to shout out every December 22nd at 12:20 pm since the day I began school; free my hands and throw all papers in the air, just celebrate that for two sunny months I will no longer assist to what some know --not me--, as "prison" (school); not that I want to leave, but hmm, it's summer. Now lets get down to the real world: you´ll never be free after December 22nd once you graduate from school; if you want to survive and save money you'll be WORKING -- that's reality.
By now, I've had a completely different experience in comparison to my first internship, Metropolis. For the first time, I have meetings with my boss where she gives me small lessons about the area of marketing and makes me analyze presentations, ones that I reflect upon. She teaches me the most crucial aspects of the area and how they are important for the shopping center. I've seen marketing studies, campaigns they've done, and several presentations to get an idea of what they complete on a daily basis, intrinsically motivating me to seek for more information and become a MASTER in marketing: I want to work here when I grow up! From fascinating information that I've captured this week, I'm impressed by how every single thing I do, even as an intern, has a CLEAR and STRONG purpose: my work is being used. A vital aspect at any workplace is to understand how YOU are adding value to the company, if not, motivation becomes an obligation, eliminating the purpose behind enjoying work. Purpose gives you energy, as you understand that you produce for a greater audience and for the benefit of all. So, since the first day at MegaPlaza, they've been testing my abilities with common assignments that they give to all interns, as well as other small jobs that are strictly related to marketing. For instance (two quick anecdotes):
There's way too much information that I could share from these past days, and such as I've been taking the best out of the situation, I hope that over the next couple of weeks other obstacles pop up, because I'm looking forward on pushing myself and my abilities forward to break the barrier between work at school and real work; this time I'm having a potential impact in the companies -- a huge company -- success. Weekly Marketing Lesson Time: External Consumer: Costumers who buy directly from a store. They pay for a product and it automatically belongs to them.
Internal Consumer: People who sell a product, one who owns a store. |
