Two months sounds like a life-time when you have never ending assignments due day after day. Nevertheless, laying down on the same towel until the sun is almost hidden behind the ocean and the dusk is painting the sky purple and pink, makes those two months (summer) possibly the fastest days of the year. It's February 23 and I actually feel that last week I was walking down the shopping center for the first time at my internship.
Thinking back over the summer, I've devoted time to several opportunities that have enriched my learning, and I don't regret it. Yet, along these experiences there's been one specific task that I've lacked that extra step to complete what I proposed at the start of the 2015 summer vacation: BlendZ. As many students I sometimes act like a student, forgetting the complexity of a role that an entrepreneur carries in order to highlight themselves over competition: to successfully follow the path to what makes a great startup. It's as simple as giving part of your time to something that you actually believe in; an entrepreneur has little, sometimes not even a week of vacations, you gotta be up to every risk that endures on the way.

I waited too long to act on BlendZ, until Andrea and Gisella set up a meeting mid February to update the team with latest news on our business, making us conscious of an important aspect: our thoughts are still BIGGER than our actions. I feel that two members of the BlendZ team finally noticed that we were playing with fire, having this huge trailer of our dreams with such a small budget, giving little input as a cohort when actually saying that we believed in our business, and a series of other conclusions that where killing BlendZ: we were doing it the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, never had I thought that BlendZ would fall down the cliff, but resonating and taking action upon the status of our business at this time has definitely established a sense of confidence in our business. Now I've switched up my mind 100% in considering ourselves part of that small percentage of being a successful start-up, because WE CAN, and as Creative Confidence mentions: "we've started to move". |
School starts in less than 24-hours, and there's so many things I'm looking up to. I hope we will all be coming back with a refreshed idea of what we would like BlendZ to look like once we graduate from school in a couple of months. More than ever, there's so much that needs to get done, and as a team we need to be supportive in every possible way: Habla BlendZ (now Habla Roosevelt), the pivoting idea from the trailer to a smaller food cart and the upcoming thursday sales until we get permanently settled up. It's time to show who we are as a business and to pay ourselves off for the the time we've given to this real life project.
As they say:
"If life gives you L E M O N S make lemonade"
"If life gives you L E M O N S make lemonade"
so: If life gives you L I T T L E T I M E use it wisely. We have less time --the most important ingredient-- than we think, and it's up to us in how we want to invest it. We need to play it smart, it's not about giving up 24 hours to the business and worrying about every detail. We are in a point where we need to have intelligent fun and take advantage of all the last opportunities that show up, obviously being aware of the benefits and limitations that they might have on our business. We have exactly 4 months to move our cards and play clean magic. Lets make of BlendZ what we all wished at the beginning of the year ---> I promise you'll be impressed.
