I've been stuck in the same bubble for the past 13 years of my life; a bubble, were they give me indications and I just need to follow the leader. But honestly, everything changes when you start to make your own decisions, when you get your learning wheels spinning. In today's society, many people believe that the power of education derives from an experienced master, who gives you specific tasks, were you will receive certain learning outcomes; but |
Today, everything changed, we became our own masters, we became 12 underaged entrepreneurs. After the first week of school, as the IA, we received one of the most challenging yet entertaining projects. We were given a detailed task, were all the brainstorming was left for each one of us to do. "This coming Thursday August 14, you will be pitching your own idea: a service, a product or even a business we could run as an academy. As the IA, we will be our own judges, evaluating the feasibility, viability, and desirability of the product. You'll have two minutes to launch your idea in front of the IA" |
Scary right? At first, I was clueless, blacked out, and I had no ideas in mind; the ones that were popping up were lame, they were 0% motivating. After 3 days of thought, ideas finally started to make sense, but there was one, that with no doubt, fulfilled all of the requirements; I was excited.
time to pitch my idea
I was nervous, scared, and afraid. I was unclear about the formula to sell my idea, the equation to engage my audience and convince them that this product was better than any other. Everything was polished, the pitch, the media, and the product, the one thing that I was missing, was the SPARK to convince my audience. |
My idea was clear, I knew what I wanted, and I was motivated and sure that my audience would feel fascinated by it just like me. As other presentations went on, the time to present SMO O TH VILLE was each time closer. As I heard the presentations, I constantly rehearsed my pitch at the same time just to make sure that I knew it by memory. For the first time I noticed something strange; I wasn't scared because I had to present my idea, instead, I was excited. I was nervous, because the fact that I had two |
But the time came, and honestly, all the pitches were a true success; they were entertaining, fun, engaging, and most importantly, everyone was passionate about their idea. Personally, my pitch was well delivered, concise, engaging, and I tried a new technique that maybe move out from my comfort zone: directing to my audience with a strong and confident tone. Even though I felt my pitch was really short and I went faster than what I expected, I was able to communicate my idea and convince my audience that the product was a MUST in the FDR campus. With all this in mind, I believe that when you have a clear purpose behind an idea that you actually want to execute, there's nothing that will kill your enthusiasm. If you believe in what you will share with others, you will be a star when delivering your thoughts as long as you feel motivated by them; because honestly, there's no one that knows better than you, about that ONE THING that you came up with. |
