After a 35-minute meeting with Mr. Topf, I concluded with some specific actions plans for each class: English Honors, Global Business, Advanced Media Literacy & Independent Project.
Sometimes, the best way to push yourself to achieve something is by avoiding grades. Grades are extrinsic motivators, and many times, if not always, you complete assignments just because you want a 7 -a good grade-. Here's the truth: in order to give 100% and show how much you value a piece of work, there's NO "PERFECT"; you always need to be willing to change a certain error, it's not about handing in your work and forgetting it completely, the REAL WORLD doesn't work like that.
All this idea of grades, relates to my performance. Sadly we need to send our midterm grades, WHAT GRADES? ones that we give ourselves. Instead of having a teacher giving you a grade, we reflect on or performance and with an approval of Mr. Topf we decide upon a grade regarding your progress. Honestly, this is the best way to notice your improvement as a student, because you get to think about your attitude and assignments since the beginning of the semester.
English Honors:
Global Business: | ✎ ✎ ✎ ✎ ✎ |
- Work on economic and government vocabulary terms to improve my comprehension in this areas
- Make sure to revise once in a while my blogs and my notes to remember what we talked about in class, and especially to not forget economics and governmental concepts
Advanced Media Literacy:
Independent Project:
Even though I had to select a grade over 7 for each class, I was able to identify my areas of improvement, and what I could do in order to get better at them. The conference was extremely helpful in order to check my understanding, talk about my learning, and reflect in my performance and the difference between now and last semester. I'm looking forward to achieve my action plans and improve as a student in the following months. |
