One of the worst feelings you might have is when you are working on a project and everyone knows exactly what to do, they have a plan, and they are ready to go; however, you are little lost. As everyone started working in their documentaries, I saw this huge plans, brainstorms, skit outlines; I felt I was missing something. After reflecting on my ideas for a couple of minutes, I found out why I was "LOST": I didn't know what I was looking for. |
In other words, I knew what my focus was, yet, my ideas where not 100% synthesized, leading my thoughts to be all over around. I was worried; I found myself stuck in this huge bubble of possible ideas, so in order to clear everything up, I spoke to Mr.Topf. As I shared all my focuses and my plan, I got a lot of things clarified. Mr. Topf gave me suggestions about my topics and he made me realize and think about what where the most important things about my topic, what I wanted to deliver to the audience, and most importantly, what was it that would add value to my film. |
Even after having a settled idea, I figured out two possible questions - - - - - - > | Option 1: How does the lack of government regulation, affect the small economy of (community in Huaraz, not specified)? Option 2: What can the small informal economy of (community in Huaraz, not specified), teach us about economics and government? After deeply understanding both questions, I started brainstorming possible ideas to investigate, film, and ask about once starting the documentary. Moreover, I came up with a list of possible topics that would be interesting for people to understand when they watched the film. In order to have a better comprehension of my ideas, I separated the questions and created different focuses for each of them, leading me to choose one question among both. Honestly, at this point of the brainstorming I got excited about my idea, because I had a clear orientation of what my documentary was going to look like. Nevertheless, I'm still not completely sure what I will film exactly, but I learned a really important lesson to keep in mind: |
