Talking with your boss is the best way to clear out your doubts. After working for three weeks, I finally understood perfectly the entire idea of my internship. Being a little late I had a meeting together with my mentor and Mr. Topf; it was a great success. After having a discussion about my internship, from what I heard, I learned a large quantity of facts that I didn't know until now since the internship started. I finally comprehended the vision of Metropolis, and what was the purpose of the work I was doing. It took too much time to understand the whole idea of the work I produced, but I finally got it; I FELT RELIEVED.
What stood out the most at the meeting was Jorge's vision to create something different. He was looking for a company far more creative than just architecture. The key points that most impacted me throughout the meeting where:
In the future:

So what am I doing? I'm adding value to the company through the work I'm producing. Im testing the different forms of communication that will be 100% useful if they are planning to expand this form of advertisement in the future. I'm the first generation working in this kind of project at Metropolis, and I finally find my work IMPORTANT & VALUABLE. Im starting to SPREAD THE WORD |
Since everything made more sense today, I enjoyed every little piece of work I did.
Today I didn't have planned work since the day started, instead I started getting more work throughout the day, because it was all about emails. Basically, I was in charge of contacting more pages and get everything done for the people we had already contacted. We got some emails from the same people that we had contacted, asking some questions about the information we had sent, asking for better better pictures, or even for more projects. The first package I prepared was sent to CHINA! We received and invitation letter |
to see if we were interested in submitting some projects to a magazine in english. We definitely accepted the opportunity, and Jorge gave me a list of projects that I had to sent through we transfer. I prepared the packages for Tang Rong, and it took a lot of time because I dedicated patience while selecting pictures, and organizing everything. After finishing with this order I kept on fixing the packages for the people we had already contacted. I got lots of e-mails form "Arch daily" asking for some improvements we had to do in the folders already sent, so I had to prepare more packages. Also we were interested in publishing two more projects in Arch daily: Universidad del Pacifico, and Ayasha, so we also prepared some folders of those projects for them to publish. Today was a very successful day, and since I understood the whole idea of my internship I was excited about the work I was doing. It was fun to feel important at a company.
# INTERNSHIP | Short Lesson For Today IT TAKES TIME You should always be patient because the answer will not always appear at the beginning. However, it is also very important to be curious and ask question if something is unclear, because you can't wait forever if you are not happy. In my internship, I took a lot of time figuring out the whole point of the work I was producing, and it would have been much better to figure out at the beginning because sometimes I felt unproductive. I didn't know until today how much VALUE I was adding to Metropolis, and I just noticed that what I'm doing is part of a really important investigation. |
