Bullying is a huge issue nowadays. Sadly, many times people ignore it, wanting to believe that with time it will get better. Bullying might be a 9-year-old childish error, but once it starts to become a habit, it can envelope the victim into a journey were nothing else matters, you've been internally and externally destroyed. What I've come to notice after deep reflection, is how the idea of mindsets can shape up a bully's victim and transform their mind and thought. |
I will encourage you to rethink that concept in your own time, because in this case, what matters the most, is how the victim reacts after having walked with a hump on their backs and a dirty backpack all along the hallway.
I never thought how a MINDSET could be so influential in someones decision, leading you to events that you probably never thought about. Before stating a clear point, the idea of bullying is about judging, about establishing who is worthier than others. After several studies done, they've branched out their ideas and come to the conclusion that the reaction of the victims towards their bullying varied drastically depending if they had growth or fixed traits. Victims with the fixed mindset take the incident more personally, were they conclude with the idea that nobody likes them, even so that they are stupid, weird and misfits. With this hodgepodge of thoughts they go beyond the boundaries and close up their minds with one initial and fInal thought: REVENGE, VIOLENCE. On the other side, victims with the growth mindset, take bullying as a psychological problem of the bully, a way for the bully to gain status. They don't look at themselves as less, instead, they try to find what problem the bully has. With this idea the victim actually talks to them, asking them why they are doing what they are, and confront the issue face to face. The difference is clear, and it marks a huge difference, while the fixed mindset goes completely CRAZY, the growth mindset takes the problem with a lot of CALMNESS. |
So in this example the difference is pretty clear, and as I've been noticing throughout every single page from the book how the different mindsets affect your way of thinking, I definitively want to change the fixed traits I might have, and modify my mindset into a GROWTH mindset. I've been impressed by the slight difference that there is between the fixed and growth mindset, yet that small difference is enormous when it comes to taking decisions, good and thoughtful decisions. |
