Ever thought how hard it could be to work with olive wood and bronze to create sculptures? Margarita Checa a Peruvian artist, has been working in this art since she was about 25 years old. Throughout time her olive wood and bronze sculptures have been evolving, from being a simple block with colors to a well shaped body with perfect hands, feet, a head and even a magnificent body. Not common in Peru, she has dedicated herself to work with these type of material, creating mind blowing sculptures. There are many series of sculptures and each one of the pieces represents something different. The details Margarita includes are incredible. Even with olive wood she is able to give texture to the objects, making them look as blankets, clothing etc. The patience seen behind this work shows up in the results of the sculptures. Here in Lima this has been one of the best exhibitions I've been to. Having such a wonderful artist in Peru, gives us pride as a country. The amount of work and thought behind this sculptures is brilliant. I am proud to admit that we have such a good quality of art here in Peru. I've been impressed by this sculptures and the creativity in them. YOU CAN'T MISS THIS EXPOSITION! Visit it in the ICPNA, and for free, | |
