Many times, we try to memorize every single word we read, but that's not the most efficient way to understand important concepts. When it's ZZZ bed time ZZZ and you are anxious to open your book and enjoy the author's taste, usually, you just read over the page but never take time to draw down some notes. Sometimes, when you read novels, this is not necessary; however, when you read a book that explains complex concepts, taking notes and writing down key words is extremely helpful when you want to reflect upon the chapters later on. In fact, this was the technique we used throughout Naked Economics, and honestly, it helped me remember the most important ideas after a couple of days. Nevertheless, when taking notes you are able to refresh your mind once you read them again, but probably, you are not able to determine what will come afterwards until reading the notes in the next page, and so on. |
In the class, everyone created a different art work with different meanings. Instead of having someone explain each drawing, we had to guess what was happening, and most of them where precisely accurate. Basically, this was a new way to learn, and in my opinion, one of the BEST ways to learn. The power behind a drawing is that it never has one single meaning, you can start with an idea but you will end up connecting it to other ideas, having as a result, a summary of what you read. That's what we tried to do, create a single drawing that represented one concept, yet with that concept you could most likely remember other ideas that you considered important, because hypothetically speaking, if you recall an idea, probably, you will recall others as well; IT WORKS AS A CHAIN.
Add VALUE to everything you do, add VALUE to your time.
