After having a clear idea of how to develop my question, I thought I had finalized the entire plan; however after speaking to my dad I received valuable suggestions that made lots of sense. During the long conversation we had, I modified some of my focuses, and basically I changed the idea I had in mind and made it less broader. Furthermore, the thoughts that where mentioned in the conversation made me realize different ways of how to do my documentary more innovative, entertaining, and how to allow my audience to have a clearer perspective of the information shared. ↓ |
Before Discussion: I wanted to do a documentary about informal economics and basically mix up interviews, with statistics and personal stories from local citizens of the community. With this broad idea I had different focuses that I wanted to fulfill by using the information I was going to receive, such as their biggest source of revenue, locals being content with the government, local regulations, the biggest problems they face, etc. Moreover, I was going to use a variety of media to explain all of this topics. The problem with this outline was that it had no order. There was no constant pattern and some of the topics where impossible to narrow down. Even, if I had a clear idea of what I wanted to share to my audience, during the process of creation this was going to be impossible. Clearly, I hadn't thought about the long term effect this planning was going to have; I was lucky enough to notice before, and I came up with a much better idea. ↙ Aspects: -Theory of Book "El Otro Sender" by Hernando de Soto -Information extracted from local interviews at Manchay -Basic evolution process Basically, I will be focusing on this three aspects, and throughout my documentary I will be drawing conclusions about informal economics. In other words, I will be explaining the entire process of informality, showing the problems they face, how they are able to survive, If they have developed over time, and finally, recruit as much information possible from the people that live in Manchay in order to analyze their life's. Now that I have a clear understanding of my new idea I need to develop a clear plan of attack and definitively start working on my script (what I will be saying, transitions, what I will include in each focus I've chosen). | After Discussion: I found out that the process of informal economics worked as an evolution. In other words, it all starts for instance when someone decides to move to Lima since they have no support from the government in the highlands. Once they get to Lima they have two paths: survive with no help, or ask help form the government. If you select the first option, probably it will all be fine until you build an informal home, but the problem comes when you need to survive. In order to survive you need food, and that's exactly where informal economics begins. They start being surviving in their own by deepening in informal transportation, informal trade, informal education, and informal business. They start creating their own town with their own rules: "A COUNTRY INSIDE A COUNTRY" Honestly, this idea was extremely interesting, so based on this thought I started developing new focuses. Now that I'm convinced by this concept, and I'm 100% positive of it working out, I've decided to base my film in three different aspects. ★ |
