I was mindlessly clicking on things in Facebook when I came across a page that tells the story of ordinary New Yorkers called Humans of New York. It was simple but powerful, and I knew that I wanted to do the same here in Lima, but with video and text. Peruvians have mind-bogglingly stories to share, and I’d kill to share them to the world. So here I am, starting a new movement: Humans of Lima. Listening to stories from people around the world—and within Peru—is a great way to reflect on the world’s cultural diversity. The objective of Humans of Lima is to experience—through video, images and text—the lives of Peruvian citizens. It’s to break down the social stereotypes that plague our society, and to make people aware of the different lifestyles and passions of us Limeños. The first edition in Humans of Lima features the life of security guards and the things they most value in life. I chose to interview guards because although their jobs tend to be underrated by most Peruvians, they serve others, and like each and every one of us, they are human. They don’t live like royalty, but they are happy. Through these interviews I was able to learn the importance of family and appreciation. The guards I interviewed work day through night, yet they are grateful for every act of love, care and tenderness that they receive from their children and loved ones. They put aside the materialistic and focus on valuing the small things that most of us take for granted. Most importantly, they balance their time to be with their children, pursue their passions, and make a living for their family. They are humans to admire. In Lima, we all live a little differently, but we also share some of the same, intimate stories. AMAZING ARTICLE, the best one I've written by far, I'm extremely proud. FAITH TRUST & PIXIE DUST I've got NO WORDS to describe this moment! An amazing experience I will never forget. Sitting down in the gym, and suddenly... 1st place... "THE JUNIORS" we had won mural, and class 15 went crazy. Not enough with that, .... 1st place.... "THE JUNIORS" we had one cheer. Myself and a group of 15 amazing friends had worked in this dance for one month! and it was simply amazing. I can't believe we were able to achieve our goal! We finally made it first place, and I'm SO PROUD of my team, not because we won, but because we gave the most and best of us, we demonstrated the dedication we had put into the cheer, in order leave everyone impressed and smiling.
