"All SOCIAL CHANGE comes from the PASSION of individuals" T H E Y N E E D H E L P The Cove, is one of the most shocking documentaries I've ever seen. Many films talk about issues around the world, but I can definitely say that after watching this one, I've been persuaded through this horrible reality to TAKE ACTION. I was shocked by the amount of violence against creatures that do nothing apart from living a happy life. Moreover, the amount of Dolphin slaughters (23,000 every year) + violence there are per year is unbelievable and it's lamentable that people keep on doing it. Something that moved me as I saw the documentary was the initiative Ric O'Barry had to help dolphins in Japan. Yet, it's the truth behind this story that actually amazed me. Long ago, Ric O'Barry was the protagonist of the series Flipper. Dolphins were kept in captivity in order to work out the series, but in that time he didn't notice the harm he was doing to the precious animal. As time went on, capturing dolphins for entertainment became an extremely popular market, and all due to Flipper. Over time, Ric O'Barry had an incentive to take action over this world-wide industry, Before, when he worked in Flipper, he did everything for the money, until one day, the dolphin died in his hands and his life made a complete switch. That extrinsic motivator, converted into guilt, and that guilt, motivated him to begin with this movement. Now, he states a really important point: "It took 10 years to start the business, and it's been 35 years since then, and I still can't tear down what I unconsciously started" Even if he was one of the causes of this malicious billion dollar industry, he continues to be a hero. Fighting for something you really want is not always easy, but it is clear that he has all the guts to stop what he started. Even being taken to prison a couple of times for what he did, hasn't stopped him to fight for this marine wildlife creatures. He manages such a big project against a huge industry and even if he hasn't banned this activity he still fights for it.

The whole idea of creating a university video, was to not only serve ourselves but the community as well. By creating a promotional video about a dreamed college we were making a favor to many people. Out there, there might be many students that have no idea what to study. I believe that sharing a video about my perfect fit, could allow others to find what they are looking for, especially, if they are trying to figure out a program that fulfills the same requirements as the one I want. Yet, creating a video for a college is not as easy as it seems. All the information you can find out about a college needs to be specifically selected to make your video the perfect length, enough to engage your audience. Finding the precise information about MIT's Biological Engineering program for my video was time consuming, and after long working hours I finally decided what information to include in my short film. This is the first draft of my American Dream college movie, and I need some feedback to improve it and make it better. My First Draft..
How can I I M P R O V E my video?
C O S T U M E S Throughout the movie, I focused on the costumes and the physical appearance of each character, noticing the importance they had in the film. In the movie every character is dressed in relation to their economic and social class. Basically, clothing in the movie is one of the reasons why the American dream is distorted; it's the costumes that identify their importance in society, and the amount of money they posses. Basically, you can notice the difference in costumes when they compare people form the different settings, East Egg, West Egg and The Valley of Ashes.
In general, it's clear the difference in clothing depending the socio economic status. As soon as the movie starts, you can identify who the characters are just by looking at their cloth, highlighting the theme and emotion of the film. The selection of clothing is important especially in movies where the whole idea is surrounded by money and wealthiness. Clothing is another way to represent affluence and materialism, contributing to the strong theme of THE GREAT GATSBY.
Watching the movie after reading the book has taken my imagination to another level. As I watched the Great Gatsby there was no feeling other than excitement as each minute from the movie went by. It's the 1920's an era where no longer the "American Dream" worked as it originated. It's the movie's choice of visuals, angles, characters and setting, which gives the exact description of the distorted "American Dream" that America was living. As the film went on, I was not only amazed by the concept of the movie, but the production that was behind each scene. It's the mixture of fantasy, color, and reality that has impacted me as a watcher. The whole idea of social classes, economy, living status and aristocracy has been developed in such a detailed and over-thought manner throughout the film, that I have no better image of how money cannot buy happiness because you will eventually loose the real meaning of a perfect dream.
In comparison to the book, the movie tries to make the theme universal, connecting the 1920's to the world now days. The music used throughout the film is actual modern music known by most people, not shaping the movie into something as old as it seems. Also, it's the exaggeration of the parties with woman's gala dresses, uncountable jewelry, music at a top volume, and people going crazy, that allows all adults and young adults to connect instantly to the movie, having a more intimate relation with the audience. Gatsby lives this crazy life where nothing makes sense. While his ambitiousness for Daisy grows throughout the film, he has the chance to share a couple of days by her side. Is the word HAPPINESS, which apparently does not exists in Gatsby vocabulary. Even though he shares unforgettable moments with selected characters, his life is full of emptiness, having little to be proud of. All he does has one motive, Daisy, and it's that whole idea of money, ostentatiousness, love and anxiousness that leads his life to get ruined, with no dream accomplished. Gatsby reflects the whole idea of the American Dream;
