Planning the internship was harder than I thought. Because we are still in school and we are not applying as university students to the company we want to work for, it’s harder to be accepted. However, most of my classmates were able to find an internship through their parents or even through relations of relations. I spent one weekend talking to my parents explaining them what I was interested on and I came to a conclusion that I wanted to work on a company related to marketing and publicity. Over a time spam of two weeks my dad has been trying to find out someone who needs help for a month, because the internship lasts form November 11th to November 4th, being Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, in my case. Since it has been somewhat hard for my dad to find the perfect internship for me, I had the opportunity to talk to Ms. Lorena who works in marketing and admissions at school. Apart from this, since Ms. Lorena works with the department of student relations as well, there are many students in school who’s parents might have a company for us to work for, and she will look for some options too. | My Plan.. still in progressGoals:

Once I send the mail to Ms. Lorena I received a call from my dad letting me know that he had found an internship for me. I was really excited because I had finally found an internship that was related to what I was looking for.
However, even through I found a great internship I also learned an important lesson. When you plan at the last minute you start getting nervous. Because some students already had their independent project or internship decided, I felt that I was falling behind with the project. That’s were I started stressing out, because I thought that I wasn’t going to find an internship that I truly liked. It’s really important to plan in advance especially when they give you a lot of time before the deadline; don’t leave things to the last minute. After all these stress, I know that I will still enjoy the internship and I will definitely take out the best form it. I am excited to start, but at the same time nervous that something goes wrong or that I fail as an employee. For sure, this is one of the scariest real-world situations I have been during the time I’ve attended high school. |
